 15 JUDGMENT & SALVATION (cont'd)

God's Values Differ from Man's

Ye are they that justify yourselves in the sight of men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.                                                                                                                                                         l1615

Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father which is in heaven.                                                                                                                                                                                            m0601

Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.                                                                                                            m0616

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust doth consume, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth consume, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where thy treasure is, there will thy heart be also.                                                                                                     m0619-21/l1322-4

But what think ye? A man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to-day in the vineyard. And he answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented himself, and went. And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. Whether of the twain did the will of his father?
[The chief priests, the scribes and the elders: The first.]
Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.                                               m2128-31

But God said unto him, Thou foolish one, this night is thy soul required of thee; and the things which thou hast prepared, whose shall they be? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.                                                                           l1220-1
