8 His Mission (cont'd)
Christ - Teacher (cont'd)
I have spoken openly to the world; I ever taught in synagogues, and in the
temple, where all the Jews come together; and in secret spake I nothing. Why
asketh thou me? ask them that have heard me, what I spake unto them: behold,
these know the things which I said.
[And when he had said this, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus
with his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?]
If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest
thou me?
j1820-3
These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: the hour cometh, when I
shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but shall tell you plainly of the
Father. In that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I
will pray the Father for you; for the Father himself loveth you, because ye
have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from the Father. I came
out from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world,
and go unto the Father.
j1625-8
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

I have yet many things to say unto you,
but ye cannot bear them now. j1612
Christ - Healer
Go your way and tell John the things which ye do hear and see: the blind
receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the
deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good tidings
preached to them.
m1104-5/l0722-3
[A message to Herod:] Go and say to that fox, Behold, I cast out devils and
perform cures to-day and to-morrow, and the third day I am perfected.
l1332
O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear
with you? bring hither thy son.
l0941/k0919/m1717
Who is it that touched me?
[Peter: Master, the multitudes press thee and crush thee.]
Some one did touch me: for I perceived that power had gone forth from me. l0845-6/k0530
Our friend Lazarus is fallen asleep; but I go, that I may awake him out of
sleep.
j1111
But if I by the finger of God cast out devils, then is the kingdom of God
come upon you. When the strong man fully armed guardeth his own court, his
goods are in peace: but when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and
overcome him, he taketh from him his whole armour wherein he trusted, and
divideth his spoils. He that is not with me is against me; and he that
gathereth not with me scattereth.
