[To two of John's disciples:]
What seek ye?
[Rabbi (which is to say, being interpreted, Master), where abidest thou?]
Come, and ye shall see.
[Andrew to Simon Peter: We have found the Messiah (which is, being
interpreted, Christ).]
Thou art Simon the son of John: thou shalt be called Cephas (which is by
interpretation, Peter).
j0138-42
[To Simon:] Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a
draught.
[Simon: Master, we toiled all night, and took nothing: but at thy word I
will let down the nets.]
[After filling two boats with fish: Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O
Lord.]
Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

Who do men say that the Son of man is?
[Some say John the Baptist; some, Elijah: and others, Jeremiah, or one of
the prophets.]
But who say ye that I am?
[Peter: Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.]
Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it
unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I also say unto thee, that
thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of
Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of
the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be
bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in
heaven.

[Peter to Christ walking on the water: Lord, if it be thou, bid me
come unto thee upon the waters.]
Come.
[And Peter went down from the boat, and walked upon the waters, to come to
Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he
cried out, saying, Lord, save me.]
[Jesus stretched forth his hand, and took hold of him,]
O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
[They that were in the boat: Of a truth thou art the Son of God.] m1428-33
[Peter, referring to Christ's prophesy of suffering and resurrection:
Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall never be unto thee.]
Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art a stumbling block unto me: for thou
mindest not the things of God, but the things of men.
m1622-3/k0833
[Peter: Lord, dost thou wash my feet?]
What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt understand hereafter.
[Peter: Thou shalt never wash my feet.]
If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
[Peter: Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.]
He that is bathed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every
whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
j1306-10
[To Peter:] Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he
might sift you as wheat: but I made supplication for thee, that thy faith
fail not: and do thou, when once thou hast turned again, establish thy
brethren.
l2231-2
[Peter: Lord, why cannot I follow thee even now? I will lay down my
life for thee.]
Wilt thou lay down thy life for me? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The
cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
j1337-8
[At Gethsemane:] Simon, sleepest thou? couldest thou not watch one
hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed
is willing, but the flesh is weak.
k1437-8/m2640-1/l2246
[Simon Peter therefore having a sword drew it, and struck
the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. Now the servant's name
was Malchus.]
[To Peter:] Put up the sword into the sheath: the cup which the Father hath
given me, shall I not drink it?
j1810-1/l2250-1/m2650-2
[A man at the trial: Of a truth this man also was with him: for he is a
Galilaean.
[Peter: Man, I know not what thou sayest.]
[And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.]
[And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter.] l2259-61
