Dialogues and Sayings concerned with Those He Healed (cont'd)
Martha & Mary: Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.]
This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified thereby.
Let us go into Judaea again.
[The disciples: Rabbi, the Jews were but now seeking to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?]
Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because the light is not in him.
Our friend Lazarus is fallen asleep; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
[The disciples: Lord, if he is fallen asleep, he will recover.]
Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
[Thomas: Let us also go, that we may die with him.]
[Martha: Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. And even now I know that, whatsoever thou shalt ask of God, God will give thee.]
Thy brother shall rise again.
[Martha: I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.]
I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth on me, though he die, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth on me shall never die. Believest thou this?
[Yea, Lord: I have believed that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, even he that cometh into the world.]
[Martha to Mary: The Master is here, and calleth thee.]
[Mary: Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.]
Where have ye laid him?
[Lord, come and see.]
[Jesus wept. The Jews therefore said, Behold how he loved him!]
[But some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of him that was blind, have caused that this man also should not die?]
Take ye away the stone.
[Martha: Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he has been dead four days.]
Said I not unto thee, that, if thou believedst, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Father, I thank thee that thou heardest me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the multitude which standeth around I said it, that they may believe that thou didst send me.
Lazarus, come forth.
Loose him, and let him go.                                                                                                                                                            j1103-44

NOTE
An analysis was attempted of the various features involved with the cures and nothing substantial appeared to emerge except their diversity.

It was decided to classify the passages thus:-
Christ acting out of compassion for the sick,
The same with the element of Sabbath observance,
Cases where appeals were made for help - showing faith,
               Cases of spirit possession,
               Malchus
